The intense rain and strong wind observed in the capital Baku and surrounding areas since yesterday have caused serious consequences. The rain and wind have damaged a number of social and transport infrastructure, as well as property.

As always, serious problems have been experienced on the Bagirov Bridge, one of the main traffic points in the city. As the rain water filled the crossing, traffic has completely stopped here. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been involved in the incident and work has begun to drain the water. It should be noted that during the rains in Baku, the bridge in question is completely flooded. The head of the Baku City Executive Power, Eldar Azizov, cannot solve this problem and makes false promises every time he visits. Two people drowned and died during the flooding on this bridge.

Another impact of the natural disaster was on the city's greenery. As a result of strong winds, 55 trees fell in Baku, and more than 15 had their branches broken. According to the Baku City Greening Economy Union, in response to these events, employees switched to an enhanced work regime, removed fallen trees from the areas, and pruned damaged branches.

The rain also caused serious damage in the city of Sumgayit. A number of streets in the city were flooded with rainwater, making it difficult for pedestrians and vehicles to move. Images circulating on social networks clearly show that some cars are submerged in water. Residents say they are having difficulty preventing floodwaters. Roads built in an unsystematic and poor quality manner have collapsed, and streets have been flooded due to the lack of sewage lines.

Currently, relevant agencies in both Baku and Sumgayit are continuing to clean up and restore the areas. Weather conditions are forecast to be changeable for several days.
